GREEN BOOK FESTIVAL NAMES “THE MAN WHO QUIT MONEY” FOR TOP HONORS

NEW YORK_ The unique story of a man who intentionally lives largely without money is the grand prize winner of the 2015 Green Book Festival, which honors books that contribute to greater understanding, respect for and positive action on the changing worldwide environment

“The Man Who Quit Money” by Mark Sundeen (Riverhead Books) chronicles the life of Daniel Suelo, who left his life savings of $30 in a phone booth in 2000 and has never looked back. Since then, he has lived without money-and with a newfound sense of freedom and security. The book is an account of how one man learned to live, sanely and happily, without earning, receiving, or spending a single cent and without accepting food stamps or welfare.

This fascinating story raises provocative questions about the decisions we all make and teaches us how we might live better, making it a perfect choice for the competition. The author will be honored at a private awards ceremony on June 19 at the Grolier Club in Manhattan.
