SAN FRANCISCO_ The 2013 Green Book Festival is in its late registration period for entries to its annual competition honoring books that contribute to greater understanding, respect for and positive action on the changing worldwide environment. All books must be received by Wed. May 1.

The 2013 Green Book Festival will consider published, self-published and independent publisher works in general non-fiction, fiction, children’s books, young adult, how-to, poetry, science fiction, biography/autobiography, history, gardening, cookbooks, animals, photography/art, wild card (anything goes), scientific, business, spiritual, health/wellness and future forecasts.

Entries can be in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese or Italian. Our grand prize for the 2013 Green Book Festival winner is $1500 cash and a flight to San Francisco for our gala awards ceremony on May 18, 2013 at the Sir Francis Drake Hotel. or an equivalent amount donated in your name to the environmental charity of your choice.

A panel of judges will determine the winners based on the following criteria:

1. The overall writing style and presentation of the work.
2. The potential of the work to enhance understanding of the environment and its issues.
   

ENTRIES: Please classify your book and enter it in the following categories. Multiple entries must be accompanied by a separate fee for each book. Books can be entered as a hard copy or electronically as a .pdf/web link:

FESTIVAL RULES: Green Book Festival submissions cannot be returned and will be donated to a children’s charity at the end of the competition. Each entry must contain your e-mail address and contact telephone number. All shipping and handling costs must be borne by entrants. Books published on or after January 1, 2007 are eligible for the competition.

NOTIFICATION AND DEADLINES: We will notify each entry of the receipt of their package via e-mail and will announce the winning entries at the GreenBookFestival.com web site.

Deadline submissions in each category must be received by the close of business on May 1, 2013. Winners in each category will be notified by e-mail and on the web site. Please note that judges read and consider submissions on an ongoing basis, comparing early entries with later submissions at our meetings.

AWARDS: The Green Book Festival selection committee reserves the right to determine the eligibility of any project.

TO ENTER: Entry forms are available online at http://greenbookfestival.com or may be faxed/e-mailed to you by calling our office at 323-665-8080. Applications must be accompanied by a non-refundable entry fee via check, money order, credit card payment or PayPal online payment of $50 in U.S. dollars for each submission. Multiple submissions are permitted but each entry must be accompanied by a separate form and entry fee. Entry fee checks should be made payable to JM Northern Media LLC.

Entry packages MUST include one copy of the book; the entry fee or receipt from online payment; your e-mail address and telephone number. You may optionally include any relevant marketing materials, i.e., press kits or other material that illuminates the background of your book, or refer us to electronic versions. Please, no bookmarks.

E-book entries are welcome. You can enter an e-book in three ways:

1. Send as a .pdf to our e-mail address labeled as “2013 E-book Entry” in the subject line. Please attach copies of your PayPal receipt and entry form to the email.
2. Click here to use our “Book Uploader” to send a copy of your work. We accept most e-book formats. Then send an e-mail to us labeled as “2013 E-Book Entry” with PayPal receipt and entry form attached.
3. Send an e-mail to us indicating that you’ve sent the book, attaching your PayPal receipt and entry form. We accept most e-book formats.
