HALLOWEEN BOOK FESTIVAL NAMES NICK CUTTER’S “THE DEEP” GRAND PRIZE WINNER

HOLLYWOOD, CA_The story of a strange plague that is decimating mankind and a special research lab that may provide a cure is the grand prize winner of the 2015 Halloween Book Festival.

Nick Cutter’s “The Deep” (Simon & Schuster) explores a strange plague called the ’Gets. It causes people to forget things, which ends when their bodies forget how to function involuntarily. But far below the surface of the Pacific Ocean, deep in the Mariana Trench, an heretofore unknown substance hailed as “ambrosia”’—a universal healer, from initial reports—has been discovered. It may just be the key to eradicating the ’Gets.

The story of what happened in that lab and the evil lurking at those crushing depths continues Cutter’s mastery of the genre, winning him the top prize.

Cutter and other winners, runner-ups and honorable mentions will be honored at a private reception on Nov. 21 in Hollywood.
